Yoga Instruction
My yoga philosophy
I was trained in both Vinyasa and Yin yoga, and have practiced a number of different forms of yoga over the years.  My style of teaching falls under the slow flow category, and could also be called alignment flow.  My teaching is informed by proper alignment, not for aesthetic reasons, but to ensure that we are keeping our bodies safe during practice.  I encourage students to find a balance of what feels safe and comfortable in their bodies, while also challenging themselves a bit without being forceful.  Many of us tend to push our bodies to the limit, and only when dis-ease and pain become present do we realize that we’ve pushed too far.  Mindful yoga is a wonderful tool to facilitate awareness of and presence in our bodies.

Public Offerings
Stay tuned for these classes:
Slow Flow Yoga

In this class, we will move slowly and mindfully through standing and seated postures, allowing some time to reconnect with our physical bodies. We will pay attention to proper alignment, while tuning into sensations in our bodies, moving, breathing, exploring. Options will be given to accommodate varying levels of practice, all are welcome.

Yin/Yang Class description:
Yin yoga is a slow, meditative practice that targets the joints, connective tissue, and fascia through longer holds in each pose.  It is an opportunity to sit with the body's sensations and emotions that may arise. It is an opportunity to be quiet, still, and receptive, in order to look deep within.

Yin and yang together aim to find balance in the body and mind.  Yang (active) poses will be on the gentle side, and the amount of yang poses will vary from class to class, based upon the needs of the group.  We incorporate yang poses to help smooth and integrate energy that has shifted throughout the yin practice.  This can be a deeply transformative practice.  All levels are welcome!
